Advertising manipulation is no more

After failing to get any result, he filed a complaint against the oil manufacturer and the actor Anup Menon, who was seen in the advertisement (legally 'Anderser'), in the Thrissur District Buyers' Court, seeking Rs 500,000 in damages.  Anup Menon admitted in court that he had advertised for the oil but had never used it himself.  Recently, the concerned buyer's court has ordered the hair oil manufacturer and Anup Menon to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 each.  Countless such complaints are being filed and settled in the consumer courts of India every day.  The above two incidents provide an illustration of the evolution of the Consumer Protection Act.  Now in advertising about any thing or service.  If the claimed quality or effectiveness is proved to be untrue, then not only the manufacturer or the marketer, but also the person who is the face of the advertisement of that product is also responsible.  This change came in the wake of the Consumer Protection Act 2019, which came into force on July 20, 2020.
