Five and a half hours question to IPS Tathagata
According to CBI sources, the interrogation episode of Tathagata Babu has been recorded in the video at the CGO complex in Salt Lake since this morning.  A few weeks ago, the CBI summoned 12 policemen, including three IPS officers, in a coal and cattle smuggling case.  Apart from Tathagata Babu, two other IPS officers Kallol Ganai and Anshuman Saha were also summoned.  But they have filed a case in the Calcutta High Court against the legal validity of the CBI interrogation.  A High Court source said the case could be heard this week.  Kallolbabu is now in the State Glenda Department and, Anshumanbabu is working in Asansol Commissionerate.
The accused is said to be one of the culprits in cattle and coal smuggling.  Investigators said a search of Enamul Haque's home and office turned up several documents.  They also questioned Enamul in their custody.  Investigators said the police officers were being summoned on the basis of documents found in Enamul's house and information obtained from his interrogation.  According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the names of several police officers have also been found in the raids on the residences and offices of Anup Majhi alias Lala and Trinamool leader Binoy Mishra.  The two are still out of the CBI's grasp
Investigators said that all the information found in the investigation of the police collusion with the trafficking ring was in front of Tathagata Babu on that day.  Initially, he helped the CBI officials to bring Tathagata Babu and if necessary, he may be recalled at a later stage.  Among the police officers summoned in the coal and cattle smuggling case, Bankura police IC Ashok Mishra and Tathagata Babu have so far been questioned by the CBI.
According to CBI sources, another notice has been issued to Binoy Mishra, one of the accused in the coal and cattle smuggling case.  Earlier, a notice was sent to Binoy to appear at the CBI office at the Nizam's Palace in Kolkata.  He asked for more time till January 19.  Therefore, a new notice has been issued and he has been asked to appear on January 20, i.e. tomorrow, Wednesday.  CBI sources said.  The CBI has already issued lookout notices against Binoy.
